The Hillman Blueprint for Black Women's Success in Academia

Black women in academia occupy a unique intersection—often underrepresented, under-supported, and underestimated. Inspired by the research of Dr. Elaine Rudder, this guide addresses the systemic barriers Black women face in higher education, while offering actionable strategies to thrive. From forming “sista circles” and securing sponsors, to advocating for institutional change and embracing joyful self-care, The Hillman Blueprint is more than a guide—it’s a declaration that Black women belong in every corner of academic leadership.

At The Hillman Collective, we carry this blueprint forward. We are a space by and for Black women—especially those displaced or disillusioned by shifting tides in DEI. We honor your expertise, affirm your experiences, and walk with you as you rise.
